Apps to Keep You Motivated in 2018
Many people view the end of the year as a chance for reflection, and the beginning of a new year as an opportunity to get a fresh start. January is often viewed as the optimal time to join a gym, commit to a healthier diet, and even to look for a new job.
Life can get hectic soon after you swap out the desk calendar, though, and it’s not easy to keep motivated when times get tough. That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite mobile apps that are meant to help you stay committed to your resolutions.
If You’re Trying to Quit a Bad Habit
Quit That! is an app designed to help you do just that. If you’re struggling to quit nail biting, or kick your soda habit, this app can help you manage your commitments. According to the app’s description, key features include:
- Apple Watch support
- No limits on how many things you can quit
- Find out how many days, hours, minutes, weeks, or years it's been since you quit
- Share your progress or keep it private
Best of all, it’s free. Find out more about it here.
If You Want to Eat Fresher Food
The Harvest app helps you see which fruits, veggies and other produce items are in season in your area and how to pick the best. According to its description, it also informs you of pesticide levels, “so you know when to buy organic,” and offers tips and tricks for storing your produce. This very popular app has been featured in a variety of media, including Better Homes and Gardens, Clean Eating, and Prevention. Find out more about it here.
If You Want to Exercise More
Under Armour’s Map My Fitness app syncs up all of your fitness activities (there are more than 600 sports you can log) so that you are always able to keep track of and get insights on your performance. According to its description, there are many ways the app helps you analyze your performance, including ways to:
- Gain in-depth insights on every workout, with detailed stats including pace, distance, duration, calorie burn, elevation, and more.
- Keep an eye on your progress by reviewing your previous workouts.
- Set personal goals and adjust them as you improve.
You can also choose to link up with your social media profiles, to keep yourself motivated and accountable throughout your workouts.
The app can be purchased monthly or annually. Find out more about it here.
If You Want to Get Positive
Grid Diary/Journal is journaling through an app, where the entries are broken into a variety of grids which, according to the app, can be “as simple as a question, prompt, or etc.” This type of templating makes it easy for you to let your words flow, and even to reflect on the positive things that happened or kind actions you took each day in your life.
The app is available for a one-time purchase or in a subscription model. Find out more about it here.
